Specific epithet
[edit]The reference to a finger shape is indirect. The species was originally described as Pentstemon (sic) Digitalis and the specific epithet--the capitalization indicating it is a noun, not an adjective--is a direct reference to the genus Digitalis. In fact the article title is "Pentstemon Digitalis. Date style
[edit]As this article is primarily scientific in nature it should use the dd-month-yyyy standard as is typical in botanical scientific articles. This plant is native to the United States where month-dd-yyyy is standard, but the consensus is it does not have strong national ties as shown by it being at the scientific name rather than the common name, following WP:FLORATITLES.
