Wrong descriptions about Patel. Please find a good source. And edit it. Koli Patel is adopted by Koli caste, They are not originally Patel. Please do needful research and provide true resource.

Figure given about motel ownership is misleading/incorrect
[edit]The source provided, which is the 1999 article "A Patel Motel Cartel?" from the New York Times, states that 70% of all Indian motel owners have the last name Patel. To say, as this Wikipedia article does, that "It has been estimated that between one-sixth and 70% of all U.S. motels are owned by someone with the surname Patel" is a (potentially harmful) mischaracterization of the figures in that source. The NYT article also notes an estimate that approximately one-third of all motel owners are named "Patel," which is a vastly different statistic than is provided on this Wikipedia.
Thank you for your attention to this matter! CaffeinatedHen (talk) 02:30, 12 February 2026 (UTC)
- I removed the entire sentence. A statistic that ranges from 17% to 70% is probably not worth stating. And, when the statistic is based on an article written 26 years ago, it is almost certainly not saying anything about the ownership of motels today. If someone can come up with a recent source that is both more exact as well as not a travel article, go ahead and add that in. --RegentsPark (comment) 02:39, 12 February 2026 (UTC)
Minor correction (typo)
[edit]The word "clam" should be "clan" in the sentence: Some of the well known clams of Koli Patels are Chauhan, Makwana and Rathod. Arcinva (talk) 13:29, 28 May 2026 (UTC)
- Done. Thank you. RegentsPark (comment) 15:35, 28 May 2026 (UTC)
