"Choral scores completely replaced individual vocal parts during the 19th century" is perhaps overstated. 40 years ago I sang the Mozart Requiem from parts. This was in Germany. Around the same time, in the US, Broadway musicals distributed their vocal lines in partbooks. Not sufficiently versed in publishing practice to say *where* partbooks survive(d), but they certainly did. Roger.Lustig (talk) 19:24, 26 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
