Contested deletion

[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted because notability has considerably increased since the last deletion: An Ebony Magazine Power 100 Award for her University tours and endorsements, multiple major endorsement deals, appearances at/in New York Fashion Week to much press / fashion publication coverage, and most importantly: the sources have improved (as recommended in the deletion discussion) and more sources exist. --Trainsskyscrapers (talk) 15:58, 19 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

What valid reason is there for an editor to request deletion of Olandria’s page without due course? This is bias of the worst sort. Fix it. ~2025-32013-79 (talk) 00:06, 8 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Add Public Image Section

[edit]

Can a Public Image section be added to this Wiki profile to list the numerous awards that are included in the references but not written out with more context as to the subject matter of the awards and why Olandria was chosen. ~2026-16697-36 (talk) 11:17, 17 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

NYFW Olandria at Area

[edit]

Olandria sat front row at Area during NYFW 2025 along with the other shows she attended. Here is the article in Fashionista https://fashionista.com/2025/09/love-island-cast-nyfw-spring-2026-appearances ~2026-28937-87 (talk) 21:05, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Further editing of this article

[edit]

There really is no need to keep adding massive amounts of irrelevant information, just because someone sat front row at a show, had a brand deal, or was put on a best dressed list it does not need to be put on the article. I get a lot of people are fans of her and support her but that doesn't mean you have to just overload the article with stuff to promote her status. Austin2626 (talk) 02:09, 28 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

If the subject is receiving awards and accolades for these things wouldn’t a brief mention be important for context purposes? ~2026-33973-41 (talk) 06:59, 9 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism / potential edit war

[edit]

@Aboutnick The text on this article is not AI generated. zerogpt also says 80% of Zendaya’s career section is AI generated. Are you going to go ahead and delete her career section too?

We have had lengthy deletion discussions with multiple editiors about what qualifies for a Wikipedia article, and this article has resulted. Red carpet appearances, brand deals, and more, are relevant to the career of a model and influencer.

Her birthdate was verified by multiple of her own birthday Instagram posts, which have been used to verify the birthdate on other Wikipedia pages.

The constant double standard on Olandria’s page versus others is unwarranted. Daring Dolphin (talk) 11:35, 21 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Sure there are other things on Wikipedia, however, the majority of this page is PR puffery, such as red carpet appearances. Her birthdate is not verified by a reliable source and therefore will be deleted regardless. As I can see you are a superfan of Olandria, I want you to know this is not a personal attack. Simply, there are mistakes and broken guidelines in relation to her page, such as unreliable sources (i.e. TheGrio, Hello Beautiful, The Fader, Hypebae, Adage, Black Enterprise, AfroTech, The Root 100, Revolt, and Page Six; all of which will be removed per Wikipedia:Reliable sources. Aboutnick (talk) 19:19, 22 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
The list you referenced about Reliable sources does not list these organizations such as TheGrio, Glamour, The Root, and Sports Illustrated as unreliable sources. That’s just your biased and personal view.
Instagram posts have been used to verify birthdates on other Wikipedia pages.
This page has already been reviewed by multiple users and these claims have been addressed in multiple deletion discussions. It’s been pared down to remove excessive detail. Removing swaths of info is unjustified. Daring Dolphin (talk) 00:18, 23 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
The Sports Illustrated sources links were actually fake, the redirect going to lifestyle.si.com; TheGrio is not a reliable source. While Glamour is reliable, red carpet appearances are expendable and should not be included, as it is excessive and irrelevant detail. If her birthdate has a reliable source, then why don't you add it? Aboutnick (talk) 04:46, 23 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Sports Illustrated Lifestyle is an extension of Sports Illustrated, it is not marked in red as an unreliable source in Wikipedia's source list. TheGrio is a major Black news channel that is also not marked as an unreliable source in Wikipedia's source list. According to Wikipedia's verifiability policy, self-published social media posts by the subject may be used as valid sources for information about the said subject. Birthdate post(s) were added previously but removed by another editor who didn't deem them necessary as birthdate was verifiable. Red carpet appearances are significant for a model and influencer as public appearances are a significant part of their career; content was discussed at length in deletion discussions (available for review at top of talk page); accomplishments have already been pared down previously by other users to remove excessive detail. Daring Dolphin (talk) 05:51, 23 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
As you have added a Instagram post with her birthdate, it shall stay. Red carpet appearances are not a part of one's career, it is simply PR puffery and irrelevant to add. People with no notoriety or fame can be on a red carpet, and many have, but it doesn't make it relevant or worthy. Aboutnick (talk) 18:53, 23 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
You’re removing swaths of content based on your personal view and broad claims that are not rooted in consensus. Why don’t you get consensus before dramatically editing this page? Plus, you’re removing more than red carpet appearances. You’re removing speaking engagements - which speak to the subject’s influence - and removing high-fashion appearances at international fashion weeks - which are completely relevant to a model’s career. You’re removing more than your own initial claims, all unilaterally, without consensus from other editors. Consensus was reached in lengthy deletion discussions and prior edits over months. It’s not reached here. And therefore, repeated and dramatic removal is not warranted. Your claims surrounding zerogpt and “unreliable” sources, and broad claims about the content hold little to no merit in policy and hold no consensus for you to continue unilateral major content removal. Conflict of Interest

[edit]

The majority of this article has been edited by one single person, specifically Meteorblues, who exclusively edits Olandria and her former boyfriend. Meteorablues consistently and defensively edits and adds minutiae material such as: Olandria's attendance at Le Grand Diner du Louvre, MAC Cosmetics campaign, MACzine appearance, excessive details about her collaboration with Brandon Blackwood (specifically the timely selling of the product), and fashion week appearances as a guest and not a model. Based off of the history of the page, Meteorblues simply reverts or deletes any and all information that they do not agree with (as they did mine). Perhaps this user has either a personal relationship to the subject or has a financial connection with the subject. Thewealthysocialite (talk) 00:37, 16 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

I have no personal, professional, financial, employment, or other external relationship with Olandria Carthen, her representatives, or anyone associated with her, and I am not compensated for my edits. The suggestion that I may have such a relationship appears to be based solely on my editing history.
I do edit this article frequently, but editorial interest in a subject does not by itself establish a conflict of interest. If there are concerns about the neutrality, due weight, sourcing, or level of detail of particular material, I am happy to discuss those individually on their merits.
Regarding the examples raised here, I also don't consider every inclusion beyond challenge simply because it is reliably sourced. If consensus is that particular details—such as the Louvre attendance or the level of detail concerning the Brandon Blackwood collaboration—are undue, I am open to discussing whether they should be condensed or removed. My objection is specifically to using an article-level COI template based on speculation about an undisclosed personal or financial relationship that does not exist.
