Belgians and Frisians

Why are Frisians subsumed unter Belgians? Belgians (including Frisians and Walloons) To my knowledge, Frisians hail from the Netherlands and Germany. Did it get mixed up with Flanders? Vollprofi (talk) 08:17, 15 December 2023 (UTC)

Where did Italians go?

They're the 5th largest European-descended ethnic group in the US, and yet they are not included in the list of major white ethnic groups in the US between English and French, where they should be. They're nowhere in the lead. Can someone please re-instate this? No source for 197,639,521 number in 2023

Two statements on this page claim that the number in 2023 is estimated at 197,639,521, but the source for this statement (from Census.gov) does not have this number. Will be replacing with 2020 Census numbers. Alexysun (talk) 18:24, 5 September 2024 (UTC)

Informal language

Distinguishing Spanish-descended Non-Hispanic Whites from “Hispanic/Latino” in the lede

It makes perfect sense to include mention of the colonial Spanish heritage in the US. “It was small” is a bit of a false point, as it multiplied relevantly over time and forms a notable part of the genotypic base in places like Florida, Louisiana, and New Mexico. Secondly, there needs to be some way of distinguishing between (i.e.) the Basque Americans in places like Idaho and the wider Inter-Mountain region, the Islenos from rural Louisiana, the Spanish immigrants to Hawaii, the descendants of Asturian zinc smelters and Northern Spanish granite quarry workers in Vermont - and the more recent Latin American migrations. The former groups are non-Hispanic White in that they have long spoken English, do not have the same “Latino” origin/ethno-genesis, and are assimilated into the “white European” American identity. These groups often identify with the Non-Hispanic White category, or are otherwise interchangeable with it because they lack ties to Latin America or recent ties to Spain. "also referred to as White Anglo Americans" should be removed

First, it's simply incorrect as "Non-Hispanic White" includes Italians, Poles, etc. (also people from near Asia and North Africa currently) these people are not of "Anglo-Saxon descent", and secondly the "Anglo" population of the United States is covered in other Articles i.e. "British Americans", "WASPs" etc. I understand that "Anglo" can be interpreted as "English Speaking", but there is room for misinterpretation due it's conflation.

Even in the "Anglo" page, the United States section currently requires a citation, stating: ""Anglo" is short for "Anglo American",[citation needed][dubious – discuss] is used as a synonym for non-Latino whites;". I think rather than making a lengthy paragraph or link, for a term the average person doesn't use it should simply be removed for more accurate terminology, especially on articles concerning how people identify for the Census. 2A02:C7E:5A64:2A00:8D83:6072:AC78:1CD8 (talk) 15:51, 31 August 2025 (UTC)
