Fair use rationale for Image:NextYear2.jpg

[edit]

Image:NextYear2.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 16:37, 4 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Requested move 19 September 2026

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

– This was a contested technical request (permalink), so I am bringing a formal RM. Given that there is the Foo Fighters song, Next Year (Two Door Cinema Club song), Next Year (Macklemore song), and "Next Year", a 1969 song by Paul Anka, I don't think there is enough apparent evidence that the Foo Fighters song is the primary. In the past 6 months, "Next Year" has received 3,472 pageviews for an average 579 viewcount, but it is not clear how much of that sum is for readers potentially looking for other songs titled "Next Year", considering Next Year (song) redirects to the Foo Fighters one despite being an incomplete disambiguation and a misleading redirect. Reminder that page views are only one factor in determining a primary topic, though commonality dictates that the viewership data may have reasonably been skewed in favor of the Foo Fighters song. — Trailblazer101🔥 (discuss · contribs) 08:18, 19 September 2026 (UTC) Note: WikiProject Rock music, WikiProject Songs, WikiProject Alternative music, WikiProject Disambiguation, and Talk:Next Year (disambiguation) have been notified of this discussion. — Trailblazer101🔥 (discuss · contribs) 08:22, 19 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose. Per WP:SONGDAB, we are really only considering songs with articles, so this comes down to Foo Fighters vs. Macklemore. The Macklemore article was only written today, and therefore there is no pageviews data to look at. It barely charted, and does not appear to be particularly notable. The current primary topic can remain until we have a few months of pageviews to look at. 162 etc. (talk) 16:58, 19 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose for now. Agree with above comment. If the Macklemore song approaches or surpasses the Foo Fighters song in the future, this should be revisited at that time. Station1 (talk) 22:43, 19 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose per others. Not sure the Macklemore song is notable, seems likely to not be. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 05:10, 20 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose, as per others, the Macklemore version is note notable having only made it to the lower end of the New Zealand "Hot Singles" which is pretty much a Tip-parade or Bubbling under type chart and given that it was released five years ago this is not likely to change. Nominator's comment: I didn't have much conviction with this RM, and only thought it benefited from a full discussion after the contested technical request. Given the compelling rationale arguments from those above, I would like to withdraw this nomination. Perhaps consensus may change over time, though presently, it appears the Foo Fighters song is indeed the primary, despite my concerns with the redirect. I'll just take the Next Year (song) redirect to RfD for the time being. Thank you all for your input! — Trailblazer101🔥 (discuss · contribs) 17:17, 20 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
