Why is Mohan date of birth inconsistent?

[edit]

I just want an answer.

Repetitiveness

I feel like this article has a lot of repetitiveness, especially about Mohan's time in DoubleClick and Google. Doron1803 (talk) 19:48, 3 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

No mention of censorship policy

[edit]

"Raja Mohan" is known for vastly exceeding Susan in the degree of lopsided speech policing and advocacy of globslist and leftist policies. His role in suppressing speech and its impact on US elections should be discussed. 2603:9000:E700:6050:E529:E0AE:C63:A56E (talk) 08:22, 22 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

A correction and Time CEO of the Year

[edit]

Hi, I'm Kat from the YouTube / Google comms team. I've been asked to request a few updates for this Wikipedia article, starting with one that is super straightforward:

1. Please can editors correct the line in Early life stating that his parents are Indian-Tamils? This is not correct (they are not Tamil) and is not in the cited reference, which just says that his father was born in Lucknow. I see there's a few sources online that state his family is Tamil, but these seem to be based on the mention in this Wikipedia article.

2. In December, he was named Time's CEO of Year. Can this be added to the Career and / or to the introduction? I've taken a shot at potential language and included sourcing below:

In December 2025, Mohan was named Time CEO of the Year for 2025.[1]

Appreciate editors reviewing this request. Let me know if I can share anything else to help with these requested edits. Kat for YouTube (talk) 23:03, 12 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi User:M.Bitton: I saw that you'd responded to a past request on this article's Talk page, would you be able to help with this one? Really appreciate any time you can spare to take a look. Kat for YouTube (talk) 18:42, 24 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi User:MSincccc: Excuse the ping, it looks like you're the last editor to have edited this article. Would you be able to help with this request? Kat for YouTube (talk) 17:18, 6 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thank you so much for your help, User:Ianmacm.Would it be reasonable to also add the Time CEO of the Year to the introduction, since it's a major recognition? Kat for YouTube (talk) 23:50, 4 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Updates for Other ventures

[edit]

Hi, it's Kat again from the YouTube / Google comms team. I have another request for this article, this time to bring information up-to-date about Neal Mohan's board and advisory roles listed in the Other ventures section of the article:

1. He is no longer on the Stitch Fix or 23AndMe boards. Can that be updated?

2. Please can his current board roles and advisory positions be listed?

Again, to hopefully make this simple, I've written up a draft with sourcing. The first sentence is currently in the article, the rest is new:

Mohan has also worked at Microsoft and sat on the boards of Stitch Fix and 23andMe.[1] He resigned from the Stitch Fix board in December 2023,[2] and from the 23andMe board in September 2024.[3]
As of 2026, he sits on the board of directors of Starbucks and the board of trustees for the Paley Center for Media.[4] He also serves on the Advisory Council of the Stanford Graduate School of Business and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.[5]

Appreciate help from editors to review and make these edits. If there's anything editors need as they review, just let me know. Kat for YouTube (talk) 21:11, 2 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi User:Ianmacm, I spotted that you've recently been editing the YouTube article and appear to be an experienced editor and I'm hoping you can help me with my requests here. It's been really quiet on Neal's page since December and my pings to editors haven't reached anyone yet. Would you have a moment to look at this request and / or the one above? Awards and recognitions to add

[edit]

Hi editors! It's Kat from the YouTube / Google comms team with another short request. In the last few years, through his role at YouTube, Mr. Mohan has received some major recognition that isn't included in this article yet.

Would editors be ok with adding an "Awards and recognition" section or including these pieces of recognition somewhere else in the article? I've included a draft below outlining the honors that are the most high profile and encyclopedic. (These include the Time CEO of the Year, which is now at the end of Career).

Thanks in advance for considering this! Kat for YouTube (talk) 23:58, 4 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Mohan was named Time CEO of the Year for 2025.[6] He was also named the The Economic Times' "Global Indian of the Year" for 2025.[7]
He was included in the Time 100 list of most influential people for 2026.[8]

New award to add

[edit]

Hi, it's Kat from the YouTube / Google comms team with a quick follow-up request, to add a brand new award to the Awards section of this article.

The Asian American Foundation (TAAF) honored Neal Mohan in its 2026 awards, can this be added to the Awards section?

In May 2026, Mohan was presented with a TAAF Award by The Asian American Foundation for being an Asian American leader in the entertainment and technology industries.[1]

Thanks to the editors who've helped with my requests so far. User:Ianmacm and User:MetalBreaksAndBends, if either of you can also help with this, I'd really appreciate it. Kat for YouTube (talk) 18:03, 22 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

New Google Career detail and streamlined Introduction

[edit]

Hi, it's Kat from the YouTube / Google comms team. I am back with a request to make a small addition in the Google subsection of the Career section and to streamline the introduction, which is currently very long:

1. Can his role in overseeing Google's move into display advertising be added to the Google subsection?

I'm suggesting a phrase to add to the existing mention of his role as the senior vice president of display and video ads. The first half of the following sentence and first citation is already in the Google subsection, the second half and the WSJ source are new:

Before moving to YouTube, he was senior vice president of display and video ads at Google[1] and oversaw the company's expansion into display advertising.[2]

2. Please can the introduction be trimmed down?

Again, as mentioned above the current introduction is very long and repeats rather than summarizes a lot of information from the article. I have a suggested a version that summarizes key points from the article:

Neal Mohan (born July 14, 1973[3][4]) is an American business executive and has been the CEO of the online video sharing platform YouTube since 2023.[5][6] He previously served as Chief Product Officer at YouTube.
Mohan had roles at Accenture, NetGravity and DoubleClick before joining Google when the company acquired DoubleClick in 2007. At Google, he was the senior vice president of display and video ads and oversaw Google's expansion into display advertising.[7] In 2015, Mohan moved to YouTube. Throughout the late 2010s and early 2020s, he spearheaded the development of products such as YouTube TV, YouTube Music, YouTube Premium and YouTube Shorts.
In December 2025, Mohan was named Time CEO of the Year.[8]

In case either User:Ianmacm or User:MetalBreaksAndBends can help with this, I'm tagging you both. I've really appreciated your help with my past requests. Thanks! Kat for YouTube (talk) 17:40, 27 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Partly done: I shortened up the lead, but didn't add anything with regard to display advertising as the WSJ article was paywalled and I was unable to find an alternative source. Also, heads up, I changed my username to MBAB a little bit ago. MetalBreaksAndBends (One for all) 20:07, 1 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks User:MBAB! For the display advertising part, here's the relevant quote from the WSJ article: "Mohan became longtime Google executive Susan Wojcicki’s top deputy in the advertising product organization, overseeing Google’s expansion as a broker of ads across the internet. Revenue in Mr. Mohan’s division reached $14 billion in 2014, more than double the total six years earlier."
This Financial Times piece also discusses how he led display advertising at Google.
Does this quote (and / or the additional link) help to be able to add the update to Career and the detail for the introduction? Kat for YouTube (talk) 21:45, 8 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
All done now! I was able to access the FT story, so I used that as the source. MetalBreaksAndBends (One for all) 15:31, 9 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
That looks great, thank you, User:MBAB! Also, I'm going to have a few updates to the infobox if you have time to look at those. I'll post them in a new request below. Kat for YouTube (talk) 23:15, 18 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Correction and updates for infobox

[edit]

Hi, it's Kat from the YouTube / Google comms team again. In this request, I have a few changes for the infobox for editors to consider, including a correction:

1. Can the date be removed from the Spouse details in the infobox?

There's currently a confusing and incorrect date listed for his marriage, with no sourcing to confirm it. The infobox reads: "Hema Sareen Mohan (after 1996)" Since this is inaccurate and there's no source, can the date be removed?

2. Can the CPO title, predecessor and successor details be removed?

It seems potentially confusing to list information about his former role within the Title and Predecessor fields. I'm wondering if the CPO details can be removed and just list the information for his current role as CEO? The parts I'm suggesting to remove are:

CPO (2015–2023)
Shishir Mehrotra (CPO)
Successor Johanna Voolich (CPO)

3. Can the voice recording be replaced with a more recent clip?

I've recently uploaded a new voice recording to Wikimedia Commons under the appropriate license. You can find it here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Neal_Mohan_Voice_Recording_2026.ogg Can this be added in place of the one currently included?

Hopefully this request is short and sweet, let me know if you have any questions. Thanks! Kat for YouTube (talk) 23:17, 18 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
