Endonasal mucociliary clearance ?
[edit]Doesn't mucociliary clearance take place in the nose as well as the bronchi? Or at least a related phenomenon that should be cross-referenced here? Thomas.Hedden (talk) 13:21, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
Measurement
[edit]I came to this page trying to understand what the numbers meant in the sentence: "The dexpanthenol group resulted in a better mucociliary clearance than saline irrigation (9.93 +/- 6.04 vs. 12.38 +/- 9.32 min, p = 0.43)." Found a reference that helped: [1]. Minutes/cm is the units and it's measured by the movement of a particle of saccharine. Entertainingly: "In the respiratory system, humming at a low tone, “oooommmm,” can benefit by affecting the mucus and speeding the cilia." I hope this helps the next editor.
