Japanese names

Are there Japanese names for some moe I've encountered in manga, anime, or games (e.g. fox girl, devil girl, angel girl...)?-- Carnby (talk) 12:53, 19 April 2024 (UTC)

cat person is a nekomimi, bunny person is an usagimimi, kitsunemimi is a fox person, akumamimi is a devil girl. an angel girl would most likely just be considered an angel (tenshi) but if you'd insist on it being an angel girl, it more than likely would follow suit as a tenshimimi - although it's uncertain considering kemonomimi characters are basically "animal ears" characters. Wikipe-tan vs categories

Near the beginning of the article, there's a list of categories for which moe is used: objects, machines, places. Very soon after that, Wikipe-tan is given as an example. Obviously, part of the reason this particular example was chosen was that this is Wikipedia.

But Wikipedia is not an object or machine or place; it seems to me that to most people's way of thinking, Wikipedia is an abstract entity.

Is Wikipe-tan unusual in this way? Or is it actually common to represent abstract entities or concepts? I'd think it makes sense to include things like "Wikipedia", but that it might break down if you tried to do "Ohm's law" or "motion". TooManyFingers (talk) 15:18, 7 August 2025 (UTC)

I am no expert, but I belive wikipedia would fal into the objet category. Wikipedia uses the internet via servr so technically yes.

Also, any feeling-based concept is just that: vibes. You can personify (or moe-personify) Literaly everything and anything. Plus Wikipe-tan just cute ~2025-38249-87 (talk) 22:45, 3 December 2025 (UTC)

Nekomimi image? Why?

I feel as though maybe an amateurly done, Western illustration of a catgirl may not be a fantastic representation of what a "nekomimi" is for casual readers. Additionally, I feel like a self uploaded image with one's watermark on it may constitute some form of self promotion. Castro District (talk) 18:09, 25 March 2026 (UTC)

Unsure if it's a great or bad representation, but based on the uploader's username and the watermark, I think there's a strong case for removal on self-promotion grounds. Josapr (talk) 00:12, 29 April 2026 (UTC)

Moving Article Information to Main Article on Anthropomorphism?

Is there a reason that this is a separate article from the main Anthropomorphism page rather than a section on that page? It seems like a lot of the information here could be more efficiently contained by reducing duplicate explanations by doing so.

Something like "Anthropomorphism in Japan" or just "Moe Anthropomorphism" as the header for the section. All the sections on this article can be turned into subsections there instead. Josapr (talk) 00:11, 29 April 2026 (UTC)
