“Discrimination of excellence” is not well supported as a topic independent of Meritocracy. The article currently only exists by support of Puaschunder’s articles, and could even be a WP:PROMO issue. In short, I do not think the topic passes WP:N. There is some valuable material though, and some of it should be preserved in the article on meritocracy. — HTGS (talk) 02:03, 29 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Merger into Anti-intellectualism would be more relevant, though there might be some distinction. HudecEmil (talk) 16:31, 30 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
I agree that the article fails Notability, since much of the body looks like Original Research to me. My easy rule (maybe sometimes over-simplistic) is "Unless a source mentions the subject of this article "XXXXXXX" than it is disallowed WP:SYNTH to relate it to this topic." - but some article titles are a "broad tent" phrase.
I support a merge but I don't know a good merge target. The content could be split between different articles. ---Avatar317(talk) 17:48, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Origins of the term

[edit]

This page states that "the first known use of the term was by sociologist Gordo Peruchi in the journal Socialist Commentary in 1956." The article The Rise of the Meritocracy however says "it was first used (pejoratively) by sociologist Alan Fox in 1956." ~2026-46994-76 (talk) 17:09, 24 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
