Request for Immediate Removal/Correction of Defamatory Content

[edit]

Dear Wikipedia Administrators,

I am Mason Ewing, a legally blind U.S. resident. The Wikipedia pages in French and English currently state that I am under investigation for multiple criminal acts, including sexual assault. These statements are entirely false and defamatory.

I request:

1. Immediate removal or correction of all false information. 2. Protection of my page to prevent further defamatory edits.

Please act urgently, as these statements threaten my safety and reputation.

Thank you for your prompt attention.

Sincerely, Mason Ewing ~2025-33424-63 (talk) 22:52, 13 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

I don't know the full procedure for addressing your request but I've removed the content and left a request for further guidance at WP:BLP/N. You'll have to deal with French Wikipedia at French Wikipedia. Largoplazo (talk) 00:08, 14 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thanks you for your help! ~2025-33424-63 (talk) 00:16, 14 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
@~2025-33424-63 The feedback I've received at the noticeboard is that per WP:PUBLICFIGURES, in view of your apparent status as a public figure, the investigation, covered in multiple high-profile reliable sources, is properly mentioned in the article. Your denial of the allegations doesn't alter the fact that the investigation is occurring, which is all that's being stated here, with no implication that the accusations are true.
Another editor has suggested alternative text, including a note that you deny the allegations. I agree, but in case want to challenge the interpretation of the applicable guidelines, I wanted to give you a chance to comment at WP:BLP/N#Can someone look at a request for removal. In the absence of a consensus otherwise, I'll add the suggested text in a couple of days. Largoplazo (talk) 15:23, 15 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hello, i would like to ask you to remove the legal issue section because for the moment, there is no proven finding, and the matter remains under investigation. So, Mason Ewing is presumed innocent unless and until a judgment.

The publication of this type of information, unfortunetely may expose him to serious consequences, including threats and harassment, as has already the case following the publication of articles. Which are defamatory.

That is why, i kindly ask that this section be removed until any legal proceedings have been concluded and a final judgment has been issued. At this moment, no court has rules on the matter.

Thanks for your understanding and for considering this request.

Thanks for you help AlphaEditor26 (talk) 15:52, 20 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Refer to the immediately preceding discussion, also initiated by you, about exactly the same matter. There is nothing defamatory about saying that a matter that is before the court is before the court, or that a matter that is being investigated is being investigated. A true statement is not defamation. That Le Parisien published an update in April 2026 indicates that the matter is still considered of public interest.
