  • Comment: @Jeromi Mikhael and Sammi Brie: The hook is unclear due to nuances of the English language. Did he receive beatings on 50 separate occasions, or was it a single occasion on which he was struck 50 times?

• @Sammi Brie and Theleekycauldron: May I entertain the two of you with a triple hook from the article that I've just made: ... that MP Manasse Malo, civil servant Umbu Dedu Ngara, and army soldier Markus Dairo Talu were the main actors campaigning for the establishment of a new district in the Sumba Island of Indonesia?
• The source of the statement of this article would came in page 186-187, Chapter 7 of Vel, Jacqueline (2008), Uma politics: an ethnography of democratization in West Sumba, Indonesia, 1986-2006, Verhandelingen van het Koninklijk Instituut voor Taal-, Land- en Volkenkunde, Leiden: KITLV Press, ISBN 978-90-6718-324-6, OCLC 263427049, which is an open access book and could be accessed from here. The statement reads: "Manasse Malo... In 1999 Manasse Malo had a discussion with Umbu Dedu Ngara...Markus Dairo Talu... What these three main actors campaigning for the new districts have in common is that they were born on Sumba, received a good education and, with or without a church scholarship, pursued their education on Java."
