Proposed renaming
[edit]I suggest that this article be renamed to "List of x86 virtualization instructions" or something similar. Other ISAs also have virtualization instructions, and this change would clarify that the article only covers x86. The same goes for Cryptographic instructions and SIMD instructions. Since I didn't create any of these articles, I wanted to suggest it here first, just in case there is a good reason for the current title. NoLightsNoCameras (talk) 19:34, 24 July 2024 (UTC)
- Agreed with this proposal. These three articles were all split out from the x86 instruction listings article, with their titles taken from the section names that were used in that article. With the names they were given, they kinda looked to me like almost an invitation to add all sorts of non-x86 extensions (e.g. PowerPC AltiVec and ARM Neon for the SIMD instructions article), which I think would turn them into an unwieldy mess. As such, I decided to just go ahead and rename all three of them to something more x86-specific. Punpcklbw (talk) 20:28, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
