Backgrounds

[edit]

Can someone help with the background so the white doesn't disappear. --evrik 17:21, 8 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Format

Solid colors

[edit]

For solid color blades, should we reuse the same image? --evrik 19:41, 8 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'd say so, I imagine there are clubs which also share blade colours with stripes if you look hard enough. --Richard B

Category for inclusion

[edit]

This list could become huge if we include every rowing club. Should we limit it to clubs with Wiki articles? Richard B 19:44, 8 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

SO this is where they come from!

[edit]

I've been adding a lot of these to Wikipedia Commons, the central library for Wikimedia projects. If you make any more blades, could you possibly upload them to Commons instead of to English-lang Wikipedia? That way we don't end up with duplicates, and all the different language Wikipedias can use them. (There's no difference in using a Commons pic - it just gets called from a different place.) That would be great. Cheers, JackyR | Talk 20:13, 16 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

It is appalling the number of prestigious collegiate crews that are not shown in this article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.225.229.218 (talkcontribs) 17:47, 21 June 2007

Blades from my old site

[edit]

Very surprised to see my old site linked to from this page. For what it worth - I am prepared to release all content on that site under the GFDL. Gary van der Merwe (Talk) 07:40, 13 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Template Documentation

[edit]

I've added a bit of help on how the ridge is drawn over here: Commons:Image:Rowing_Blade_Template.svg. I've also edited the template to include a bunch of comments to help edit it. But when I click on the link, I still get the old version. Please make sure you start with the new version.

I hope to add more documentation.

More Blades

[edit]

I have created many more blades, but as specified above, they do not fit on these pages, but I think I should mention them here in case articles are written about these clubs. I have made a page of them at User:Jonowatkins/Rowing Blades. Jono Watkins 23:13, 1 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

UK University Colleges

[edit]

On List of rowing blades/School and university

I have made a start in adding which university a college belongs to so the we make it clear. I suspect few users will be familiar with which college is part of Oxford, Cambridge, Durham. I shall complete this in due course but if anyone else has the time, please could you help.

If you add new ones please could you also specify.

Thanks

  • Right, I've finished this so we can all breathe easier and sleep well at night! Seriously, if you're adding a Club of any sort please could you do it in a way that is clear to all where the club is. Thanks.--Teach46 (talk) 17:19, 8 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Blade requests

[edit]

Would anyone with the skills to make these wonderful blade images mind working on a few requests, namely the University of London, and its member colleges? Grunners (talk) 13:20, 16 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

I've successfully edited one to make St Leonard's School blades. However, despite instructions I do not find it easy! My wishlist includes the missing blades on Rowing clubs on the River Wear specifically Durham Constabulary Rowing Club, Durham High School for Girls, Sunderland City Rowing Club and Sunderland University Rowing Club. I am more than happy to source an image for each of these so that someone can work on them but I have tried with the first on the list and it's beyoned my editing skills, my software, my time or, indeed, all three. Help please!--Teach46 (talk) 20:14, 16 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Template updated

[edit]

Wow, it been 5 years since I created the template for this. IcantBeliveHowTimeFlies.

I've updated the template to work around a rsvg rendering bug that was causing the ridge and loom to render incorrectly. I've also updated all the existing images in Category:SVG_rowing_blades to include this fix.

I've added some images to Image:Rowing_Blade_Template.svg#Some_Documentation_of_this_file with points and various useful transforms. I have some other ideas on things that could be documented, and I hope to get to that soon.

It's great to see how Category:SVG_rowing_blades has grown, but alot of those are not on these lists, so I hope to add those soon.

Proposed merge of List of rowing blades – School and university into List of rowing blades

[edit]
The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
To not merge, as a List of rowing blades used by schools and universities is too long, and likely to grow; would unbalance the target. Klbrain (talk) 14:36, 8 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

There's no context to the university article, and Mason (talk) 13:36, 25 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

It is not clear to me, where we are discussing this, so my comments are below. Please move my comment if there is a better place to discuss this, and let me know. Bduke (talk) 00:37, 10 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

I am inclined to support things as they are as List of rowing blades – School and university is quite long and will probably get longer. Bduke (talk) 00:37, 10 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

As the comment above, the List of rowing blades used by schools and universities page is too large to merge and it will grow when other clubs are added. Futhermore it is logical to keep it as it is because the List of rowing blades is the master page with three sub-pages then linked. (so why randomly merge one of the three?)
