Changing to the wording of the introductory paragraph

I feel as if the wording to the section reading as "The X-planes are a series of experimental United States aircraft and rockets, used to test and evaluate new technologies and aerodynamic concepts." Would be better worded as "-United States aircraft, rockets and UAVs" representing more accurately what the designation is used for.
