Contested deletion

[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because of the artist's association with notable artist Lisi Raskin and Jeanine Oleson.

@AsNatureescapes: Association with other artists doesn't make this artist notable. Kay needs to be notable in her(?) own right to have a stand-alone article. —C.Fred (talk) 19:03, 8 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
@C.Fred: Though the artist is indeed emerging, her work at New Museum, I would argue makes a case for notability. http://archive.newmuseum.org/index.php/Detail/Entity/Show/entity_id/5364

She's a designer on that project, but I'm still not clear how that makes her a notable creative professional per WP:ARTIST. —C.Fred (talk) 19:29, 8 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
I think "has been a substantial part of a significant exhibition" would qualify her, as the New Museum is an internationally renowned museum, and her design was, perhaps arguably, a substantial part of the exhibition. —User:AsNatureescapes (talk) 19:53, 8 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
I've withdrawn the flag for speedy deletion, but I've still got a template to alert other editors that I have concerns about the subject's notability, so they can add to it. —C.Fred (talk) 20:11, 8 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Where is Kim Charles Kay from?

[edit]

I'm just curious as to where this artist is from (where born, current residence) in case it's Kentucky so she can be added to WikiProject Kentucky. Stevie is the man! TalkWork 23:58, 9 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
