Hello guys. Just to let you know the Scottish Gaelic is incorrect - Cil with one "l" and the second Gaelic name is not anything like the name the town is dedicated to. In the article on the town, it says the town takes it's name from the Auld Kirk but I am not sure this is strictly true. The town was on the cattle droving route from the west and is connected to West Kilbride. The Tyronesian Monks of Kilwinning Abbey owned land here and dedicated a small shrine (and possibly a small settlement) in the 13th C. The Auld Kirk sits on the site of the common ground and shrine that was on the droving route. As such it is also connected to Kilmaurs (nothing to do with any saint called Maura lol). I dont want to out any more online as I am presently writing a small book on the Tyronesians and North Ayrshire. Cheers

Deleting without conversation is unfair, and you should have at least mentioned it or changed what in your eyes deemed unacceptable.

Largely unreferenced

The article's primary problem is the glaring lack of reliable sources and inline citations. Without them most of the content isn't deemed suitable for an encyclopedia, and is open to removal. 99.12.243.171 (talk) 21:38, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
