Update current employment

[edit]

  • What I think should be changed:

Change "She is the CEO of the Centre for Trustworthy Technology which is a Member of the World Economic Forum's Forth Industrial Revolution Network." to "Kay is CEO of Good Tech Advisory."

  • Why it should be changed:

She left the Centre for Trustworthy Technology in 2023

  • References supporting the possible change (format using the "cite" button):

Hi Kudos9482. LinkedIn is not a WP:reliable source, because it's a social media website. Do you have a better citation to support this change? pburka (talk) 21:40, 10 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi pburka
Thank you for writing to me. I'm sorry I didn't see your reply - I'm still getting to grips with Wikipedia. I have submitted some additional material together with what I hope are Reliable Sources. Now that I realize people may respond, I will keep a closer eye on this page. Thank you again. Kudos9482 (talk) 14:21, 30 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Not done per pburka. Please submit a new request at a later date if you are able to provide a reliable source. MediaKyle (talk) 20:20, 3 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

  • What I think should be changed (include citations):

I work with Kay Firth-Butterfield and so must declare a conflict of interest. I hope a neutral editor will be willing to update this page as it is very much out of date. It was very kindly created by WikiProject Women in Red/AI Ethics but needs updating.

You will see that we have tried on a couple of occasions but not followed the correct protocol.

I have set out some additional facts with references that seem relevant to an article about her and hope that this is the right way to approach it. From my reading of the guidelines I understand that it is preferred if I do not write the update but a neutral writer does it instead. If that is not the case, please let me know and I will try again.

Career Updates

[edit]
  • Note: Firth-Butterfield is no longer an Associate Fellow at the Leverhulme Center for the Future of Intelligence at the University of Cambridge.
  • She is an associate barrister at Doughty Street Chambers, London[7] and co-lead of the Doughty Street Chambers AI Team[8]</ref>
  • She was appointed a Master of the Bench of the Inner Temple in 2018 and is listed by the Inn as an Overseas Bencher[9]
  • Kay participated in the Beneficial AI 2017 Conference at which the Asilomar AI Principles were developed[10]
  • Firth-Butterfield joined the World Economic Forum as its inaugural head of artificial intelligence in 2017. She also served as a member of the organisation’s executive committee. She left the position in 2023. [11][12] Her work at the forum included the development of frameworks and guidance for the responsible development and deployment of artificial intelligence by businesses, governments and other organisations. [13]
  • She serves on the Polaris Council of the United States Government Accountability Office[14]
  • She has served on the advisory board of the International Research Centre on Artificial Intelligence under the auspices of UNESCO.[15]
  • Firth-Butterfield is a member of the Industry Advisory Board of Responsible AI UK[16]
  • She is Chair of the Board of Humma, an AI company [17]
  • She is a Board Member at the Earth Species Project, a company using AI to decode animal communication[18]

Other writing

[edit]
  • She co-authored a chapter on virtual currencies, artificial intelligence and emerging legal questions to the second edition of Banks and Financial Crime: The International Law of Tainted Money, published by Oxford University Press in 2017 [19]
  • She co-authored an article published in Duke Law & Technology Review about incorporating legal and ethical principles into the governance of AI systems[20]
  • In 2025, she was included in Haute Living San Francisco’s Haute 100 AI Leaders list.[21]
[edit]
  • Profile at New America[22]
  • Profile at Doughty Street Chambers[23]
  • Official website: [24]

  • Why it should be changed:

The current page is out of date and does not reflect either Kay's career or the developments in the field of responsible AI governance. Because I have a conflict of interest, I have not provided particular wording for these updates and would be most grateful if an uninvolved editor could incorporate whichever of the above details into the article are in keeping with Wikipedia editorial policies. If a different format for the request would make it easier to review, I would be happy to provide the underlying sources in whatever form is most useful.
