Notability rationale for reviewer

[edit]

This article makes a notability case on three independent grounds:

1. Technology executive (Wikipedia:Notability (people) — "widely cited in reliable sources")

Jon McCormack is VP of Camera and Photo Software Engineering at Apple Inc., a role that has received independent coverage in mainstream technology press across multiple iPhone launch cycles:

  • iMore (2020) — iPhone 12 camera coverage
  • AppleInsider (2020) — iPhone 12 camera design philosophy
  • BGR (2025) — iPhone 17 selfie camera redesign
  • BW Businessworld (2025) — iPhone 17 exclusive

These are not press releases or interviews initiated by the subject; they are independently published technology news articles.

2. Conservation photographer with Tier 1 publication history

His photography has been independently published by TIME, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, CNN, The Telegraph, National Geographic, and UNESCO. These are cited via the Rainforest Alliance and Photoville Festival bios, which are independent institutional sources, not the subject's own website.

3. Verifiable institutional affiliations

  • Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society
  • Member of The Explorers Club
  • Founding board member of SeaLegacy
  • Co-founder of The Kilgoris Project (serving 1,700+ children in Kenya)
  • Leadership Council, Conservation International (2015-2022)

These affiliations are independently verifiable through the organizations themselves and are cited via Bored Panda and EverybodyWiki, which in turn cite primary institutional sources.

The article does not rely solely on book-launch press coverage. The notability case rests on the combination of a senior technology executive role with documented independent coverage, a decades-long conservation photography practice published in Tier 1 outlets, and significant institutional affiliations in the conservation sector. Sorry bad idea, I wanted to be thorough - will not do again LornaMorton (talk) 18:19, 4 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
This is incredibly problematic. You have wrongly attributed images to yourself, wrongly used AI in article creation, and now wrongly used AI to communicate with us. Please take the time to read and understand our policies fully before editing further. Sulfurboy (talk) 18:32, 4 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
I'm trying to learn how to do this properly, not trying to cause issues, I have spent a vast amount of time collating all of this information, writing and rewriting, citing and sourcing and I thought I had created something really thorough and correct. I'm stuck and I'm not getting a lot of help LornaMorton (talk) 18:37, 4 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
May I suggest the WP:TEAHOUSE? EvanTech10 (talk, contribs) ⚡ 22:02, 4 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
