"Botume" is spelled with one "T," hence the move
[edit]I wrote to the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, which operates Middlesex Fells Reservation and Botume House. The sign in front of the property and everything on DCR websites spells it with one T. I asked about the spelling, and got this reply:
- Hello there Mr. Smith,
- Thank you for reaching out to the DCR with this question. John Botume is spelled with one T, it is a common misconception to spell it with two. It’s interesting that Wikipedia titles the article with two Ts, but then refers to him with one throughout the article. If you want to learn more about John Botume, here’s an interesting article about him published by the National Parks Service;
- [John Botume, Jr. (U.S. National Park Service) https://www.nps.gov/people/john-botume-jr.htm]
- Feel free to reach back out with any more questions! Have a great rest of your week.
- Best,
- Thomas Tinlin
