The statement claiming 19,800 victims appears to be vandalism and is factually incorrect. Please revert. ~2026-13261-13 (talk) 09:00, 1 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Naming girlfriends

[edit]

Is it appropriate to name his girlfriends, given that they're entirely unknown outside of this context? I appreciate that the naming is sourced, but I don't really see what giving their names adds to the reader's understanding of the topic; knowing that he had a girlfriend with whom he had a child, and that he was with another girlfriend at the time of his arrest, seem like meaningful context, but the names of those people strikes me as arbitrary given that they don't figure in the rest of the article, and there's the obvious risk of a private person gaining notoriety for association with something they had no direct part in.

WP:LPNAME has the following to say on the topic of name privacy:

The presumption in favor of privacy is strong in the case of family members of articles' subjects and other loosely involved, otherwise low-profile persons. The names of any immediate, former, or significant family members or any significant relationship of the subject of a BLP may be part of an article, if reliably sourced, subject to editorial discretion that such information is relevant to a reader's complete understanding of the subject.

I know Keyes is not a living person, but since his girlfriends presumably still are, they must surely be afforded the same consideration as if he were. My personal feeling is that their names aren't particularly relevant to "a reader's complete understanding of the subject". I think there's a stronger argument to be made for including the mother of his daughter, first because of that family connection, and second because she's thanked for her candidness in the acknowledgements of Devil in the Darkness, suggesting she's comfortable being associated with the case. Nevertheless, I'm not entirely convinced there's any benefit to naming either of them.

I'd welcome a new review to know what needs to be done to keep this as a good article. Ktkvtsh (talk) 01:00, 23 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Eyes were sewn SHUT

[edit]

Can someone please edit the article. In Keyes confession, he speaks about sewing her eyes shut so that she would look like she was squeezing them shut in fear. The autopsy and ransom photo confirms this. News outlets reported this incorrect detail from the very start. ~2026-51339-69 (talk) 16:53, 23 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
