Should the Great Famine be mentioned in the intro?

[edit]

I think it should, in between all the other historical events. 96.89.123.89 (talk) 19:37, 30 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

I agree, and I've been bold and added a sentence. BastunĖġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 21:30, 30 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
Yeah absolutely. It had a massive impact on the island and its populace and the downstream consequences of the depopulation from it directly and indirectly are still being felt today. Canterbury Tail talk 21:53, 30 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

it wasn't a famine it was starvation by the British ~2026-22084-93 (talk) 13:03, 10 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a repository of silly nationalist sloganeering. ~2026-43021-14 (talk) 20:07, 4 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

There is no such place as the "british' isles"

[edit]

Ireland is not part of the British isles nor is it relevant

Climate data for month of May needs updating

[edit]

30.9C is the highest temperature for May as of this year, I would change it myself but it seems the page is locked. For some reason. ~2026-42905-58 (talk) 17:32, 4 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want made. Tbhotch™ (CC BY-SA 4.0) 17:55, 4 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Update climate data please!

New record for April is 25.9 from 2025. https://www.independent.ie/weather/april-was-third-hottest-since-1900-with-all-time-high-of-25.9c-recorded-this-week-met-eireann/a/132274171.html

New record for May is 30.9 as of this year. https://www.met.ie/climate-statement-for-may-2026 ~2026-44655-65 (talk) 16:13, 14 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

I was happy to supply a source, but I'm not sure what's the best way to do it. At the moment, all 24 items are referenced by just two sources, from 10 years ago. To change individual numbers would require either adding "Source 3: ", "Source 4: " etc. underneath the table, or adding a ref against each figure. I seem to remember Bastun has some expertise on tables. Perhaps he could advise? Scolaire (talk) 11:23, 18 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
I absolutely don't! I copy what's already there, or steal whole tables and change the contents! :-) BastunĖġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 15:54, 19 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Any idea who else we could ping? Scolaire (talk) 17:33, 19 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
I'm going to go outside the normal Ireland related users and @CambridgeBayWeather:. We cross paths frequently and they have a lot of experience with weatherboxes. Canterbury Tail talk 17:45, 19 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps also @Smirkybec:? BastunĖġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 18:22, 19 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Fixed it the same way as I've been doing with Canadian ones. Unfortunately someone had added an August high but without a source. CambridgeBayWeather (#1 deranged), Uqaqatigijaa (talk), Huliva 03:34, 21 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
