Flag used
[edit]Hoping to put an end to the edit wars for the flag in the infobox. Right now there is Hooman Zahedi's well-researched historical reconstruction of the flag, but there is no confirmation that IPP have selected it. Now you say to wait a week for their response, so we shall. Please share a link to the letter when they write it though ConflictFan (talk) 21:00, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
Flag design, colour, and sourcing
[edit]There appears to be an ongoing dispute regarding the flag design, colours, and emblem placement.
My intention is not to promote a specific version, but to ensure that the content reflects reliable, published sources and documented historical usage. In particular, historical photographs from the Pahlavi era may be relevant in illustrating both colour tones and emblem placement.
For reference:

Given the current sourcing concerns and differing interpretations, it would be preferable to keep the previously stable version of the flag pending discussion, or alternatively reach consensus on a reliably sourced version before making further changes.
I will pause further edits to avoid edit warring and would prefer to resolve this through discussion and consensus. Hoomanzahedi (talk) 21:10, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
- Mr Zahedi, there is no dispute that your reconstruction of the Lion and Sun flag is the most historically accurate. However, there is no indication that IPP has selected it, nor any specific design for that matter; all it does is mention in the booklet itself that a Lion and Sun flag will be adopted. In light of this, I have replaced the image with the logo of IPP that their website uses. If there is no mention of the flag in the body, then we could add a section on it. If IPP officially adopts a specific design, then it could be added to the infobox, under the logo. Regards, ConflictFan (talk) 18:39, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
WP:ABOUTSELF violation
[edit]WP:ABOUTSELF allows "Self-published and questionable sources may be used as sources of information about themselves
", but only subject to 5 requirements. Currently the article is mostly based on "Emergency phase booklet (PDF), National Union for Democracy in Iran", which is obviously a self-published source – this violates requirement #5 "The article is not based primarily on such sources.
" The material is also somewhat self-serving and promotes Reza Pahlavi.VR (Please ping on reply) 19:55, 28 March 2026 (UTC)
Pahlavi’s 10-principle plan
[edit]This source is used in the article and it is about "Pahlavi’s 10-principle plan". Is that the same thing as the "emergency booklet" (EB) and "Iran Prosperity Project"? It doesn't seem like it, because the EB seems to have 14 chapters VR (Please ping on reply) 20:34, 28 March 2026 (UTC)
- @Vice regent: Good question. I see that the 10-point plan of Sep 2024, with that source, is only in the Criticism section. The EB is for the first part of the three phases, per EB.[1]: iv, v I did
pdftotext Emergency_Phase_ENGLISH_20260301_1440.pdf && grep -n --color -E "trusting|creating opportunities|to empower|private property|market mechanism|business.*friendly|financial discipline|barrier.*women|foreign investment" Emergency_Phase_ENGLISH_20260301_1440.txtto see if I could find some of the key words of the 10-point plan in individual lines of the EB. There are three occurrences offoreign investment
in lines of the EB, and nothing else detected. Page ix of the EB says that there's a macroeconomics white paper within the EB, and it does in fact start on page 67 (pdf page 85) and go through to p81. So "Pahlavi's 10-principle plan" of Sep 2024 is a statement initially presented as being part of IPP by Pahlavi (or at least in Mohammadi's interpretation of Pahlavi's statement, where Mohammadi's use of quotation marks presumably means literal quotations) in Sep 2024, and possibly inspiring the EB macroeconomics section, but that section in the EB seems to have been completely rewritten.I reworded the Criticism section. NUFDI - related deletion
[edit]For the record: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/National Union for Democracy in Iran (NUFDI) - nominated 00:33, 18 March 2026; closed as delete on 14:32, 10 April 2026 (UTC). Per my own comment there, NUFDI, IPP, and Foundation for Defense of Democracies seem to be related, per Times of Israel. Boud (talk) 09:04, 2 May 2026 (UTC)
