[edit]What is the relationship between the IPSC and the International Shooting Sport Federation? I suggest this be mentioned in the article. Jeff in CA (talk) 15:09, 10 June 2024 (UTC)
Regional associations
[edit]Hello.
I came across IPSC Cyprus nominated for Speedy as A7. It consisted of one sentence indicating that it "is the Cypriotic association for practical shooting under the International Practical Shooting Confederation." It cited one non-independent source. Rather than delete it I redirected it here. However, I see that several of the other regional associations have virtually identical articles. Does anyone object to redirecting them all here except for the ones with substantial content? For the record the ones with substantial content seem to consist of:
- Marianas Practical Shooting Association
- Mongolian Practical Shooting Association (Although most of the content of this one is unsourced)
- Pistol New Zealand - Although this doesn't have much more content, it seems it is not just affiliated with IPSC but with other umbrella organizations as well so redirecting here would not be appropriate.
- IPSC Armenia
- Practical Shooting Association of the Czech Republic (All of the content of this one is unsourced)
- Finnish Shooting Sport Federation
- French Shooting Federation
- Federation of German Marksmen
- Hellenic Shooting Federation
- Dynamic Shooting Sport Federation of Hungary - See New Zealand
- Irish Target Sports
- IPSC Kyrgyzstan
- Association of Maltese Arms Collectors and Shooters
- Netherlands Practical Shooting Association
- Dynamic Sports Shooting Norway
- Polish Sport Shooting Federation
- Russian Federation of Practical Shooting
- Royal Spanish Olympic Shooting Federation
- Jamaica Rifle Association - See New Zealand
- Trinidad Rifle Association - See New Zealand
- United States Practical Shooting Association
With those exceptions, all the rest seem to consist of "X is the Country association for practical shooting under the International Practical Shooting Confederation" and little more. Even some of the ones I listed I don't think have enough to survive an AFD. I also notice some 15 that have been deleted, mostly under A7, and as I was going through the list I redirected another one here that was set to be deleted via PROD in the near future.
I'm tempted to just redirect all the ones I think would meet A7 here. But I'd like there to be a table or list in this article so we preserve things like the date they were founded and their logos, etc. But I'm concerned that would overwhelm this article. Thoughts? ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 20:14, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
- My opinion is that the one or two sentence permastubs should simply be deleted, like many others have been. I'm not sure that we need to list each and every national member (more than 100) of the IPSC at the main article, keeping in mind WP:NOTDIRECTORY. AusLondonder (talk) 03:04, 15 April 2026 (UTC)
- While I agree we shouldn't have 100 identical 1-sentence 1-source permastubs, we should try to preserve what little information is there, and leave a relevant redirect so that people looking for information don't wind up at a dead end.
- In addition, rather than handling them piecemeal, they would be better handled as a group. Perhaps amend your AFD to be a group nom for all but a few of the ones I listed above? ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 03:22, 15 April 2026 (UTC)
