- "Created page as this has become the a popular model - if not the standard, at least in InfoVis research - GFDL licensed text from prefuse.org."
Now I have been checked this information, and found:
- Google search "Information visualization reference model" only give 110 hits
- None of them seems to link to Ed Chi
- The PhD thesis from Ed Chi Framework for Information Visualization Spreadsheets doesn't seem to mention the term "Information visualization reference model".
- The "data state model" give some more hits on Google, about 1990, and some of them relate to Chi.
- The same is with "State Reference Model" and "Data State Reference Model"
This seems rather strange to me. I wonder if this article should be renamed to "data state model". -- Marcel Douwe Dekker (talk) 23:56, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

- I read through "Jeffrey Heer, Stuart K. Card, James Landay (2005). "Prefuse: a toolkit for interactive information visualization". In: ACM Human Factors in Computing Systems CHI 2005." and to me it seems that Heer, Card and Landay used the Data Stae Model under the name Information Visualization Refernce Model in Prefuse. They cite Chi as a source for the model on page3. "Jock D. Mackinlay (1999). Readings in information visualization: using vision to think. With Stuart K. Card and Ben Shneiderman (eds.), Morgan Kaufmann Publishers Inc, 686." Is mentioned there as a reference for the IVRM along with 2 other. I it would be good if you explain why exactly were these references removed from the articel? There was a forwarding from Data State Model to this Articel that was destroyed during the deletion process. AS IVRM seems to be the more recent term used it would make more sense than renaming the Articel Sr9182 (talk) 15:02, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
