Feedback from New Page Review process

[edit]

I left the following feedback for the creator/future reviewers while reviewing this article: Thank you for your work on this article. Unfortunately, it is not yet ready for main space. Please add sources and establish notability as per WP:NPROF. I will be moving it to draft. Please feel free to republish once it meets the above criteria. Thanks and have a great day!

I am not sure how to proceed as I modelled my article on the existing ones for geologists of my vintage, including colleagues at Oxford. Since I am the author, I can verify that the information is factually correct. As far as notability is concerned, I would have thought thet the Lyell Medal alone would have sufficed, particlarly as Hugh Jenkyns (me) is on the wikipedia list for this medal - but without a personal entry. Indeed, this omission is what prompted me to try and create my own page - quite a challenge at my age!
Please advise¡ Many thanks.

@Palermo1970 - Thank you for writing to me. Please read the guidelines for notability of academics at WP:NPROF. If the Lyell Medal is considered a "major academic award" then it could be enough to satisfy notability. However, you still need substantial sourcing and footnotes to back up the rest of the article, especially since it falls under WP:BLP. I hope that is helpful. Have a great day! Thank you. I have populated the page with many more sources as well as adding detail to some of my awards in a new 'References' section.
The Linnean Academy, of which I am a foreign member, is the national science academy of Italy: Galileo was a member - see Wikipedia entry!
Hopefully, we are nearing the end-game!

@Palermo1970 - Ok, I think we're ok on notability. We still need a lot more footnotes. Have a wonderful day! Mariamneireach out 🕊️ 10:02, 13 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Since this article falls under WP:BLP, please add many more sources and footnotes to back up each claim with a reliable source. Please also fix the citation format using citation templates.
