A metric ton (tonne) is 1000 kg. A short (US) ton is 2000 lb, or 907.185 kg. An Imperial (British) ton is 2240 lb, or 1016.047. I discovered this by use of a wonderful new app called Google. I would recommend it to everyone. But the question is - why is anyone using short or imperial tons? Note 34 justifies start and finish dates for "BPCM". The website referenced in note 34 gives neither of these dates, which appear to have been invented.
