When and why was Beasley given the name "Pops"? Can no one fill this gap? Abenr (talk) 14:41, 14 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

I'd guess that he was given the nickname because he was seen as a father figure or as more elderly or old-fashioned than the other people that he played bridge with. But of course guesswork is not usable in Wikipedia articles. JH (talk page) 18:15, 14 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
