The year of the movie vs the song

[edit]

It seems like an error that the article says the song was part of the movie, yet recorded a year after the movie came out. Just how is that possible? Some clarification is needed if this is true.  Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:8806:2305:C800:286A:2999:8EAE:1185 (talk) 23:38, 29 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

High hay

[edit]

Is it pronounced "high-ho" because Disney didn't know it was pronounced "hay-ho"? Acorrector (talk) 16:12, 13 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

It's pronounced "high" because that's how it's been pronounced in this phrase since the early modern period, albeit more often under other spellings. (Standalone, it's kept its former sound but is now almost invariably spelt "hey!") Yes, the current spelling could use a specific and direct source to primary material justifying it, particularly given the exact same phrase is entirely misspelled (without source) in our article on "The Farmer in the Dell".  LlywelynII 04:33, 8 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
