Is a better source required for the etymology of "haversack" than the Online Etymology Dictionary (http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=haversack) which sources the word to "haversack (n.) 1749, from French havresac (1670s), from Low German hafersach "cavalry trooper's bag for horse provender," literally "oat sack," from the common Germanic word for "oat" (see haver (n.1)) + sack (n.1)).". ? 148.182.52.148 (talk) 03:03, 30 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
