Is it a Trilogy?
[edit]Episode 4: Return to Ravenholm is a known cancelled episode for Half-Life 2. So even if I'm aware VaLVe said that this was going to be a trilogy we know that's not true.
Should the trilogy references be changed to make up for the fact that they were four games? Or are we gonna stuck with the officially announced? Luigi003 (talk) 08:06, 15 February 2024 (UTC)
- Valve announced the three episodes as a trilogy, so that's what we report.
- Also, things having more than 3 instalments doesn't stop the first three instalments being a trilogy. Star Wars has three trilogies! Popcornfud (talk) 11:20, 15 February 2024 (UTC)

[edit]How has nobody noticed this? Can someone find some sources for the claims listed? Pwnz0rServer2009 (talk) 19:18, 4 May 2026 (UTC)
- The lead is the summative of the article and doesn't require citations. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 20:55, 4 May 2026 (UTC)
- fair, but (top) makes the singular unique claim of the game being cancelled, which is never actually elaborated on in the article. Pwnz0rServer2009 (talk) 23:57, 4 May 2026 (UTC)
- Well, the Development section says "Valve eventually abandoned episodic development, as they wanted to create more ambitious games", and goes into detail about why the game was never finished. I would have thought that covers it. Popcornfud (talk) 02:10, 6 May 2026 (UTC)
- I guess my argument only works if one chooses to be more pedantic with their reasoning, apologies Pwnz0rServer2009 (talk) 12:05, 6 May 2026 (UTC)
- Well, to be honest, I think you have half a point. After your initial question, I dithered about whether to rewrite that sentence as "Valve eventually canceled Episode Three and abandoned episodic development", just to be explicit about it. But I can't figure out if it's really helpful, and to my mind it kind of raises the question about when exactly it was canceled, which is a question we can't answer - the sources don't give a date, and seemingly Valve never really formally canceled it, they just sort of got bored and stopped working on it... - Also, see WP:CITELEAD for the explanation on why the lead has no citations. Popcornfud (talk) 03:25, 6 May 2026 (UTC)
