"Bident"

[edit]

I recommend moving all references to the "bident" as part of Hades' iconography to a new sentence at the end of the "Artistic representations" section. There is, to my knowledge (as a Ph.D. professor of Classics with a specialty in Roman literature, not Greek art) no ancient depiction of Hades with a bident. The source cited in n. 5 is an encyclopedia by a self-described "vampirologist" and RPG designer, whose characterization of the bident as part of Hades' iconography matches modern-day depictions of Hades, but not ancient, and the source cited in n. 100 makes no mention of the bident, only roosters etc. ~2026-31175-91 (talk) 05:34, 25 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for pointing this out. I've removed the claim about bidents, as well as the book by Bane (her works have been causing problems on Greek mythology articles for years). Michael Aurel (talk) 08:01, 26 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
