[edit]Thank you so much for these excellent suggestions, Onel5969! I just made several updates to the page and References to demonstrate the notability of Gus Nall. One thing that makes Nall notable is that he is cited by Clarence Major as an important influence on the latter's art. Here is a quote from Major's Wikipedia page: "Major studied drawing and painting under the direction of painter Gus Nall (1919–1995) from 1952 to 1954."
Another thing that makes Nall notable is that his painting "Lincoln Speaks to Freedmen on the Steps of the Capital at Richmond" (1963), which was commissioned by the state of Illinois for the 100th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation. The painting is exhibited in the DuSable Museum of African American History.
Finally, I improved the References with reliable sources.

Copyright of Gus Nall paintings
[edit]Hi there; I noticed one of the paintings featured on this page had been nominated for deletion, and have just nominated the other two. The problem is that all of Gus Nall's work is still in copyright in the USA, as he died in 1995. The only way we can show a gallery of his copyrighted art on this article is 1. to contact his estate and arrange a release of some representative works under an open licence for Wikimedia Commons, or 2. show one of the works like "Lincoln Speaks to Freedmen" using a fair-use template; note this would need to be the only place in Wikipedia the painting appears, and there would need to be some substantial discussion of it in the article to make it clear why its inclusion is important.
