Bond lengths

Flerovium derivatives notable?

As far as I know, we don't know much about the chemistry of flerovium, except that it may not follow expected trends from its lighter homologues because of strong relativistic effects. In particular, the oxidation states +/-4 are predicted to be highly unstable and only possible in a few compounds, like FlF4. So the existence of FlH4 and Fl2H6 is highly speculative.

By the way, the similar entry about Moscovium hydride (McH3) has been removed from the Pnictogen hydride article, although for this compound there are a few calculations available which seem to indicate that this compound is possible. Flevorium hydrides, in comparison, are even more obscure as their existence is very uncertain. Perhaps a FlH2 exists, but that would formally be a carbene derivative.

(Obviously, any such compounds of super-heavy elements are of purely academic interest. But if there aren't even any sources claiming that a compound may exist, it becomes pretty superfluous to mention it.) 2001:41B8:83F:4250:0:0:0:BA (talk) 18:55, 2 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
