Editing Plan

Hello, everyone! I will be working on this article as part of a Technical Editing project for Texas A&M University. I will be focusing on the following aspects of the article:

• Copyediting as needed: Correcting grammar, spelling, sentence structures etc..
• Organization of sections: Rearranging the article as needed to improve the flow of the content.
• Citations: Adding citations as needed for undocumented information
• Assessing information: condensing sections that are not relevant or contain information that does not belong in this article.

Removal of independent sentence

I have decided to remove the sentence under the large paragraph in the "Characteristics" section. I was confused on what it meant and why it was alone, and it seems I am not the only one that feels this way. It has had a "clarification needed" tag for quite some time now. Questioning reliability of sources

Hi all, I'd like to raise a concern about the use of a few sources. While they provide some useful background information, these don't appear to meet Wikipedias reliable sourcing standards. I've listed them below, along with some brief notes on why they might be problematic. Unless someone can confirm that these source have undergone scholarly review, I propose they should be replaced or removed.

This source appears to be a fan-based blog that has not been peer-reviewed.

This looks like student project; not peer-reviewed.

Though the author is a credible scholar, this article is published on a pop-culture blog rather than an academic or peer-reviewed source. Mala1027 (talk) 02:19, 1 April 2025 (UTC)

I think the Hirst one in Reactor is OK -- Reactor is a fairly respected SFF magazine, rather than a blog, and Hirst is a respected Gothicist. I agree that all of the others should probably be removed, and replaced if possible. ~ L 🌸 (talk) 04:05, 1 April 2025 (UTC)

Editing summary

Hi, everyone! I've completed a round of edits for my class project, so I'll be providing a summary of my edits as well as my recommendations for future editors.

• I did some basic copyediting to correct any grammatical errors throughout the article.
• I rearranged paragraphs and sentences to improve the article's readability.
• I created a new section to further organize the article's content.
• I evaluated sources and added inline tags such as "citation needed" and "better source needed" tags to indicate which areas need proper citations.

For future editors: I recommend proper source evaluations for all sources I did not get to. It seems this article uses a few websites and blog posts, so I would make sure those are reliable enough to be included in the article. Mala1027 (talk) 02:47, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
