Semi protected edit request - GR Steak

[edit]

Gordon Ramsay Steak opened at the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond, British Columbia Canada in early 2025. Source: https://globalnews.ca/video/11032450/gordon-ramsay-brings-the-heat-to-vancouver-with-his-first-canadian-steakhouse ~2026-27049-6 (talk) 15:49, 13 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Gordon Ramsay and Tana Ramsay Foundation

[edit]

Gordon and his wife have had a foundation since 2014 and it works with organizations like the Great Ormond Street Hospital. Seems fitting to add to Charity Work section. Source: https://www.mashed.com/34835/double-life-gordon-ramsay/ Waltertruthseeker (talk) 17:14, 16 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

"Alleged" affair?

[edit]

What's the alleged bit? Either he was unfaithful or not.

Which part are you confused about? Seasider53 (talk) 15:09, 22 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
It was reported in The Times of India. If you have information contradicting that, feel free to share it. Clean Arlene (talk) 15:32, 22 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

"British" chef?

[edit]

How are we defining British here? He's Scottish, isn't he? ~2026-25865-19 (talk) 15:15, 28 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

British is a nationality, Scottish is not. Scots don’t hold Scottish passports. Hope this helps. Seasider53 (talk) 15:35, 28 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Seasider53
question: for consistency's sake, are we therefore to refer to all Scottish people as British? ~2026-25865-19 (talk) 16:23, 30 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Are you referring to their nationality or ethnic group? See Scottish people if you need further clarification. Seasider53 (talk) 17:34, 30 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
why is Jamie Oliver referred to as English then? ~2026-14669-73 (talk) 19:15, 5 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for being late, but this policy does not work in this case as this is for deletion arguments explicitly, bringing up other articles as examples for certain edits is not something to call out for with a policy, especially this one. ConeKota (talk) 21:48, 29 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
English people are defined as English yet Scots are defined as British. There is no consistency here at all. ~2026-39127-23 (talk) 21:57, 9 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
You’re thinking of Andy Murray, who was described as British when he won and Scottish if he lost. Seasider53 (talk) 22:01, 9 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
The real reason he is described as British is because he was born in Scotland but raised and lived his life in England.
Another example is Christian Bale who was born in wales to an English family who moved back to England when he was very young. He specifically describes himself as English so is described as such. ShelleyKeatsByron (talk) 20:10, 25 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Oh boy, this is another WP:UKNAT argument. Unfortunately, UKNAT is not a MOS guideline. Any who, the reason why chef Ramsay is British is because most reliable sources call him British. While yes @Seasider53, I understand the essay, WP:OTHER (which you most likely meant
WP:OTHERSTUFFGENERAL), most articles who are born in their own respective countries (English, Scottish, Welsh, and Northern Ireland) have their respective nationalities stated due to the abundance of reliable sources stating it so. It's a very touchy topic to talk about because there is no right answer nor there is a consensus if we Wikipedians want to call him British or Scottish.
If you have reliable sources that specially call him Scottish, then you can reply to this talk section and talk about it. For now, please do not change Mr. Ramsay's nationality without a proper discussion. TyronesEditsPages (talk) 01:46, 6 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
