Restoration of sourced content + removal of tag

[edit]

Requesting the reversion of Special:Diff/1341475193. This is perfectly sourced content. Further, requesting the removal of Template:COI since the WP:NPOV issues in the article have been addressed; I am also okay with further editing of the article until it meets standards to remove the COI template. Thanks. SerChevalerie (talk) 07:46, 19 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Asilvering requesting your help here, wrt your previous comments about the reverts here. Thanks. SerChevalerie (talk) 08:30, 19 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
I won't touch it directly, but I will affirm that COI tags are a maintenance tag, and if the article has been found to be appropriately neutral, it should not be placed. Editors who place the tag should be able to explain what specifically is a problem with the article. -- asilvering (talk) 17:10, 19 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

  Discussion required

  1. Controversial issues ought not to be resolved through the COI edit request process. That process is primarily meant for COI editors to propose nominally controversial edits to be reviewed by a neutral third party editor. Edit requests involving overtly controversial proposals such as the one proposed hereto reinstate text which another editor took outare not recommended for use with the {{Edit COI}} template.[1]
  2. The process of content dispute resolution needed here should begin with a discussion of the issues with local editors on this talk page. To that end, the COI editor is invited to continue the discussion below.
  3. If consensus is achieved, and that consensus is that the information ought to be reinstated, the COI editor may then invoke the {{Edit COI}} template to have a neutral editor make those changes. If no consensus is found here on the talk page alone, the COI editor may then follow up by using any of the subsequent dispute resolution strategies listed under WP:CONTENTDISPUTE.
  4. As far as the request to remove the template, it is recommended that, as a courtesy, you first try asking the editor who assigned the template in order to find out from them if it can be removed. Since they placed the template, they are in the best position to know whether or not the issues which caused its placement have been corrected. You may contact them directly by placing a new message on their talk page.

Thank you @Spintendo. @Rejoy2003, could you please share your rationale for the above changes so that we may discuss them? SerChevalerie (talk) 05:37, 25 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
I have made the necessary changes. I don't see any problem for now. I am okay if an uninvolved experienced editor can review it and remove the COI tag, if everything seems okay. Rejoy2003(talk) 08:15, 26 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Noted @Rejoy2003. I am also requesting the reversion of Special:Diff/1341475193, which is perfectly sourced content. Can you please share your rationale for this edit so that we may achieve WP:CONSENSUS here? SerChevalerie (talk) 08:21, 26 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Half of that content doesn't even speak about the subject. I'll stand my ground. I am in no position to restore that specific reversion. Unless its the references in question. For now this version, I feel is perfect and needs no changes. Rejoy2003(talk) 08:49, 26 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Rejoy2003 can you please elaborate how? As mentioned, this is perfectly sourced information, so the onus is on you to answer since you made the edit. SerChevalerie (talk) 11:45, 26 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
If you disagree with my opinion, see WP:CONTENTDISPUTE as already advised to you above. The main issue here was the COI tag, which I have already addressed above. Rejoy2003(talk) 12:19, 26 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Noted, thanks. SerChevalerie (talk) 12:54, 26 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi @Rejoy2003, I'm happy to discuss any further issues you have to remove the template. Thanks. SerChevalerie (talk) 14:07, 26 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Kindly read my first reply. Rejoy2003(talk) 14:55, 26 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Second round: WP:3O for content dispute

[edit]

User:Rejoy2003 are currently at an impasse over Special:Diff/1341475193, which I would like to be reverted. The other editor has stated the below points as part of the discussion (see above Talk page threads):

  1. WRT the COI tag: They would like if an "uninvolved experienced editor can review it and remove the COI tag". I thus request for removal of the COI tag.
  2. Regarding what I feel is a removal of sourced content, their response is "Half of that content doesn't even speak about the subject. I'll stand my ground. I am in no position to restore that specific reversion. Unless its the references in question."

Please note that this dispute is strictly between User:Rejoy2003 and me only, hence requesting for WP:3O. The previous WP:3O was declined procedurally due to "involvement of another editor" which is NOT the case since the other editor User:Spintendo was simply responding to the COI edit request and NOT the content dispute, which they were not a part of. icon Response to third opinion request:
@SerChevalerie and @Rejoy2003: For your 3rd opinion:
1. I don't see any issues with the removal of the COI tag. It is meant for articles with significant POV issues, and this article has been fixed before.

2. I don't understand Rejoy2003's actions over the diff and edit in question, as there is no edit summary (there either was none or it was deleted), and Rejoy2003 has not provided reasons on why he wanted to keep that revision. If you want to make a compromise, I'd suggest instead of saying "Others included Armando Menezes...", say "Others consulted include Armando Menezes...".
If you have any further issues, feel free to ping me or talk to me on my talk page. I'm in school so it may take me a bit to get back, but I'll do my best. signed, A Random Hylian (Parry)(swing) 15:25, 15 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thank you @A Random Hylian.
  1. Thank you. Could you please remove the tag then, since I am the COI editor and cannot do so?
  2. I am okay with your suggestion of Others consulted include Armando Menezes.... @Rejoy2003, please share any further objections here.
    1. Further @A Random Hylian, could you please see the other content deletions at Special:Diff/1341475193 and weigh in? One is about More than 4,000 workers of the Port went on strike under Pereira's leadership... and the other is which organised the first All Goa Bandh...

@A Random Hylian I am a bit skeptical with your involvement. Are you even part of the volunteers who are involved 30? Doesn't seem so, when I last checked. Secondly you seem quite new to the project and I wasn't really expecting a newbie editor to be involved, maybe any of your mentors can provide more insight? Rejoy2003(talk) 13:33, 16 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Would you like me to do that? I just started, so I'd like more input. I can ask one of them, my mentor's Oshwah, so I'll ask him. But I'll list myself at 3O; I want to try it at least. Sorry about the confusion @Rejoy2003, none of it was intended. signed, A Random Hylian (Parry)(swing) 13:43, 16 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Sure that would be great. Also no worries, I know we both are looking for the best outcome here, cheers! :) Rejoy2003(talk) 13:50, 16 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi @A Random Hylian, just following up on when your mentor will pitch in. Thanks. SerChevalerie (talk) 15:41, 19 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
I haven't gotten a reply from Oshwah yet but I saw a conversation that there's some things going on with him personally, so I'm just waiting to hear back from him before I do anything. As long as that's alright with both of you :) signed, A Random Hylian (Parry)(swing) 16:50, 19 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
No problem from my end. It's not a rat's race. I think mental wellbeing is often ignored. You can get back anytime possible. Rejoy2003(talk) 17:51, 19 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi @A Random Hylian, sorry to hear that. I think I can wait for about a week before I move on to another WP:3O request, since this was anyway rejected by Rejoy. SerChevalerie (talk) 21:44, 20 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
@SerChevalerie, fine with me. It's exam time where I am anyway, so it's gotten busy on my end. If either you or @Rejoy2003 need anything, do ping me; I may not get back right away, but I'll do my best. signed, A Random Hylian (Parry)(swing) 15:59, 21 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
All the best for your exams! SerChevalerie (talk) 17:12, 21 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

SerChevalerie - My sincere apologies! I've been busy over these last two weeks with important (and unfortunate) life events, and I'm just now following up with A Random Hylian on my user talk page. Stand by... ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 01:51, 9 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
