Brain behind the moon

NVIDIA quickly acquires the brain behind the moon ... is this right?? Seems like vandalism to me? Gnorn 23:16, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

I don't believe that was vandalism. The sentence only makes sense if you are aware of the backstory of Gelato. The person might well have meant NVIDIA's acquisition of Exluna, which was the developer ("the brain behind") of Blue Moon Rendering Tools ("moon") (well, was that a riddling sentence...). I added a link to it, along with two other GPU based renderer I am aware of. -- Ylai 00:35, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

Cost

In fact it's more expensive, Brazil and Vray round around $600 per node and Mental Ray i was unable to find information about the cost but 3dstudio max ($3500) give 8 free nodes = $435 x node. --Magallanes 21:24, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Info needed on supported gpu cards

I need someone to interpret this phrase "It was originally intended for use with its Quadro FX GPU, although a Quadro class GPU is no longer a requirement, as it now also supports GeForce cards." Does this mean that Gelato pro also doesn't require, anymore, a Quadro card ? 2025 WP:REFUND

This article was soft-deleted in 2023 -- based on minimal participation, it was treated as an expired PROD.

Based on traces of the article's prior existence that I ran across, it sounded like the subject might actually have notability, so I requested an undelete, and have reworked the article.

The article originally had 2 refs and 2 ELs, all primary sources. It now has 9 refs and 4 ELs, 7 of which are secondary sources, including coverage from reliable industry publications. (There's more out there, but I thought this would suffice for now.)

Notability includes the product's context within the industry, especially evolution of GPUs from videogame graphics card to domain-specific compute resources, in this case offline graphic rendering, and how this fit in with Nvidia's short-term and long-term goals (support for film industry as a key target market, software supporting new hardware use cases, and development of high-performance non-CPU compute).
