Active ingredient

[edit]

The first sentence of the Background section includes the claim that "The active ingredient in magic mushrooms is psilocybin, ... " This is not supported by the cited source and inconsistent with Wikipedia's entry about psilocybin. Calling psilocybin an ingredient implies that FunGuyz are manufacturing whatever product they are selling, using some sort of recipe. Since psilocybin is produced naturally by the "magic mushrooms" as part of the normal growth of the fungi, it is not an ingredient, but is a naturally occuring chemical or substance already in the mushrooms before they are harvested. The mushrooms themselves would be an ingredient if they were used to make something else, but on their own they are a raw product that contains psilocybin naturally. I have reworded the sentence. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 04:43, 26 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
