Further source of information

[edit]

Frances Tolmin should appear on the article by Douglas KENNEDY on the article 'Gaelic MMS, of the Late Miss Frances Tolmie', Scotsman (1921-1950), 01/04/1950, pp.6-. The article is available on ProQuest Historical Newspapers (EISSN 0307-5850), wondering if anyone has access to it for further information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AMcKenna-HLH (talk • contribs) 12:42, 20 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Missing Information: Collaboration with Dr. Keith Norman MacDonald

[edit]

The current article does not mention Frances Tolmie's critical contribution to Dr. Keith Norman MacDonald's The Gesto Collection of Highland Music (1895). According to scholarly research by Professor William Lamb (University of Edinburgh), Tolmie provided the 68-page appendix of approximately 40 songs, which established a new musicological standard for Gaelic transcriptions. This collaboration predates her own 1911 collection and is a significant part of her early career. This should be added to the 'Life' or 'Work' section to ensure her influence on late 19th-century collections is fully represented. ~2026-37994 (talk) 20:44, 2 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
