I previously corrected the claim that Eyo Ita was Efik and from Creek Town, Cross River State, citing an Akwa Ibom State Government publication that identifies him as being from Eket, Akwa Ibom State. That correction was changed today, and I have restored the cited version.

The earlier claim was unsourced. Its repetition in publications that relied on Wikipedia does not provide independent corroboration. If there is reliable evidence supporting a different account, please present it here and address the source already cited so that we can resolve the discrepancy through discussion and consensus.
