I can see that there are multiple archived talk topics on Maly Trostenets not being included but none seem to have answers as to why? Can anyone give a compelling reason why it isn't when various related wiki pages all refer to it as an extermination camp and the Dachau concentration camp memorial and by extension the german government recognise it explicitly as an extermination camp? The terms "extermination camp" and "death camps" are now criticised by many historians. Most experts consider the term 'camp' inappropriate, since most of these killing centres were not designed, even in part, to serve the purposes of a concentration-camp system. The Holocaust encyclopaedia, for example, uses the terms in the reverse order (Killing centers (also referred to as "extermination camps" or "death camps")...). Chełmno, Bełżec, Sobibór and Treblinka did not have a camp functioning as a detention centre. They were designed for immediate mass killing. Only Auschwitz-Birkenau and Majdanek were mixed-use complexes containing both concentration camps and killing centres. The page Chełmno extermination camp is a paradigmatic example of this misleading terminology, since no victim was ever kept there as a prisoner but immediately killed on site. The only prisoners held there were members of the Sonderkommando and others forced to assist with the killings and disposal of the bodies. Alcaios (talk) 12:01, 29 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

In this page, Wikipedia quotes Gerstein word by word, as if the ultimate truth. But in Gerstein's page several doubts are raised regarding his account... Including doubts by almost contemporary historians, who had no stake in being denialists. So, on one page Wikipedia says his figures do not add up. Here, instead, Wikipedia says that his account is fully factual (which is something it was never agreed). It would be interesting to see a comparative study that shows which claims are not contested and which ones are dubious. The dubious ones might be circumstancial, of course... But since the other page discusses at length the fact figures lack credibility... An explanation is due. ~2026-46994-71 (talk) 08:31, 30 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
