Recent changes (Since Jepson 2012) to species within Eriophyllum

Some users may be confused that this article's list of species fails to include Eriophyllum nevinii, a.k.a. Nevin's Woolly Sunflower or Nevin's Eriophyllum, a California endemic species with distribution limited to Santa Barbara Island, Santa Catalina Island, San Clemente Island, and a handful of botanical gardens where specimens have been replanted. This species, recognized as notably differing from others in the genus as far back as 1937 (Prof. Emer. Lincoln Constance, 1937 dissertation, U.C. Berkeley), has been placed within a newly created genus Constancea within the family Asteraceae, a change supported by Prof. B.G. Baldwin (1999) through in-depth analysis of the plant's morphology, cytology, and rDNA. This change has been made since publication of The Jepson Manual, although the Jepson eFlora reflects the most recent treatment.

I recommend that E. nevinii be included within the list of species described in this article, perhaps with an asterisk or similar notation indicating the recent changes to placement, since the published TJM includes it and to avoid confusion for those interested in E. nevinii.
