duplicate material

deleting contributions

I had added two sections and a photo. One section was about Eric's awards and the other about the contribution of his life by Brenda Denzler. All three additions have been deleted. Discussion of one-source tag and external link

FYI, I just added the "one source" tag to the article because it relies extremely heavily on a 2007 commemorative resolution issued by the General Assembly of North Carolina. Often, these types of resolutions are written with the assistance of family members, colleagues, etc. In some cases, family members or colleagues draft the entire thing and just hand it to a sympathetic legislator to put forward. While many of the claims the source is attached to seem like mundane biographical facts that don't carry any inherent bias, it would still improve the quality of the article to supplement it with other sources.

Regarding the blog listed in the external links section, it is permissible under Wikipedia policy to include personal blogs if they are written by an authoritative source. This blog seems to have been set up by a member of the UNC IT staff as a place for those close to Schopler to share remembrances. A lot of content on the blog appears to be copyrighted material from local newspapers wholesale copied and pasted onto the blog. I'm not fully convinced it should remain in the external links section, but am open to feedback (pro or con) from other editors. DoItFastDoItUrgent (talk) 03:34, 1 September 2025 (UTC)

After reviewing the blog further, I've decided to delete it from the "external links" section, if for no other reason than the presence of the aforementioned copyrighted material (with no indication that the person running the blog sought formal permission to reprint the news articles in their entirety). On a related note, it seems as if the person who set up the blog is the one who originally added it to the "external links" section. I don't know if that would have been considered a COI violation decades ago, but I've gone ahead and added the COI tag to this talk page to discourage any future conflicted edits.
