• I'm not sure if File:ValleyYouthTheatre.jpg is particularly beneficial

I think it is beneficial. This is where her acting career began so it's a very relevant image.

• For File:EmmaStoneSept09.jpg, I'd probably use "world premiere in 2009" rather than "world premiere, 2009"
• Let's include the location for the caption in File:Emma Stone by Gage Skidmore.jpg
• File:Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield 2014 (cropped).jpg is A-OK to use
• I will assume good faith with the claim that File:Emma Stone 2011 2.jpg is the uploader's original work, though its caption should have "the" before "2011"

The paragraph below, pasted from the "Media image" section, is the paragraph, I'm referring to...

Is it just me, or does the final paragraph in the "Media image" section (above) read like a tabloid piece written in the 1970's, rather than an encyclopedia article on a well regarded professional actress in the modern era... Is it really appropriate to focus so much on, quite frankly, misogynistic and sexist opinions on how certain publications view her in these disgusting sexiness ranking lists? I thought we were moving past all this, but apparently not... I move the whole paragraph be deleted, or edited to remove any mention of her sexiness level, or these sexist lists of how hot (or not) she is. Any thoughts or consensus? Hello everyone. User:KyleJoan and I have a disagreement over name dropping of In Search of the New Partridge Family in the lead. The project produced only an unsold pilot and it feels like such an unnecessary mention since it's not notable in her career and is an obscure title in her resume. Thoughts? Name in infobox

Since some editors seem to want to edit war over this, Template:Infobox person says the name entry of the box should be "Common name of person (defaults to article name if left blank." As the article name is "Emma Stone" it would default to that name. Making it "Emily Stone" is needlessly confusing. There is no consensus on this talk page for a name change. I agree, with Emma Stone redirecting to it. I came to this talk page specifically to see how Wikipedians would deal with this conundrum. Should an article about a notable person be of the same name they are most widely known by, or by the name they prefer?

I'm not opposed to the change, but we should maybe wait a little before changing her name in the article. It's not yet clear if people are going to call her Emily or stick with Emma. As per Wikipedia's guidelines, an article name may still refer to someone with their old name if people are more likely to associate them with that name (see Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam's name). WP:NAMECHANGES is the relevant policy, which instructs us to follow the reliable sources written after the announcement of the change. That policy is for subjects who undergo a name change, which does not apply here because "Emily Stone" is her legal AND preferred name. I agree that DEADNAME does not apply ("Emma Stone" is not a deadname), but I do think we should put strong weight on what an actor prefers to be referred to. By retaining Emma simply because it is dominant in media, Wikipedia contributes to the problem and makes any adjustment in representing her name that much more difficult. Note that recently a reporter DID refer her to Emily , and she thanked him for doing so, but he was immediately "corrected" and has even received backlash from people who didn't realize Emily was her preferred name. It does apply if she changes her professional name, what she goes by. It did when Thandiwe Newton started going by her given name. If she changes what she goes by, the new name will show up in whatever press releases that mentions her and media will immediately comply. And even if they don't, it'll eventually show up in credits, but we don't seem to have sources confirming she is indeed changing what she goes by professionally, or what it will be. WP:COMMONNAME still plays a role here. As established up above, despite the initial source and that interview, she’s still being mentioned in media as Emma Stone, still being represented in her films promotions as Emma Stone. She may prefer people interacting with her in public to call her Emily but unless going forward she is credited as Emily Stone in future films or promotion it would be incorrect to relocate the page. I did make a minor change to link "anglicized" for "Her paternal grandfather, Conrad Ostberg Sten, was from a Swedish family that anglicized their surname to "Stone". She also has German, English, Scottish, and Irish ancestry." After all, that refers to her last name rather than her Emma/Emily preference (as discussed here), and Stone is indeed her birth name rather than the change made by her grandfather. This is a mess

I drastically cut this article down, see this link for the edits and their editsummaries.

I think we need to go to WP:FAR. I don't have time now but someone should investigate how the article ended up in the state it was in (UPEs? superfans?).
