'notorious courtesan'?

I'm uncomfortable with the description 'notorious courtesan' in the lead, and would like others' opinions. 'courtesan' (used in the article, categories and short description) is highly judgemental, but I suppose her life as described here supports it. However, 'notorious' is not in the article body; it comes from the Mitford Society source which describes her as the 'most notorious courtesan of 1930s society'.
