It seems from the fuller account in the Tanya Grotter article that J. K. Rowling's lawyers were successful in stopping the wider publication of these books. I don't have time to do more on this now but might be able to come back to this later. It seems to me that the article could be contentious as it stands and is certainly incomplete.
