Local versus global

I think that starting off with a global definition and then mentioning the local case is the wrong way round. The references to Weiss that I found are actually for the local case anyway. I will try to draft something. Deltahedron (talk) 06:31, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

Bilinear form vs. quadratic form

@Deltahedron: The bilinear form corresponding to the quadratic form $x\mapsto \operatorname {tr} ~x^{2}$ is $(x,y)\mapsto 2\operatorname {tr} (xy)$. In the article $(x,y)\mapsto \operatorname {tr} (xy)$ is used. Should then the quadratic form be corrected to $x\mapsto \operatorname {tr} (x^{2})/2$? --Jobu0101 (talk) 13:46, 1 March 2017 (UTC)
