A previous version of this page referred to Mr Argall as "His Excellency". Dennis Argall edited the page to remove "His Excellency" and added the following:
(As the involuntary subject of this entry, Dennis Argall wishes to state that the content of the right column is inappropriate insofar as there is no Australian practice, contrary to US practice, of conferring the title of ambassador upon a person for life AND that the title excellency is only appropriate in the circumstance and for the duration of appointment as ambassador by letters of credence from one head of state to another. )

Removing copy that shouldn't be part of an article
[edit]Actually having read the comment from Dennis Argall I removed the title "His Excellency" and the copy from the bio that said it wasn't correct form. I have also left a comment on his talk page apologising for creating his bio and asking him to contact me so I can make other corrections if necessary and suggesting that references need to be found for the details that he has added. If the subject is unhappy at being on Wikipedia I hope that he will say so and maybe the article can be removed altogether but at the moment the subject seems happy enough to edit it himself albeit making it known that he didn't create it in the first place. If anyone else feels that a record of an Australian Ambassador to China shouldn't be recorded here I hope that they will exercise their right to call for its deletion. There is no malice in my decision to create the article or in my editing of it and I hope that my involvement will be seen as being in good faith. Castlemate (talk) 09:06, 14 September 2016 (UTC)
Health issues
[edit]As a member of the subject's immediate family, I can confirm that the health issues are described to a reasonable level of accuracy, despite the 'citation needed' flags. Health problems were a major factor in my father's life, he took medical retirement in 1985, returned to the Australian Public Service in 1988, and then took medical retirement again in the early 1990s. This was unprecedented (to be reinstated and to then retire again).NickArgall (talk) 08:00, 7 July 2026 (UTC)
