Request to add missing family history (Sister Karen Zafer)

[edit]

Dear Editors,

I would like to suggest adding a brief note regarding David Zafer's sister, the late violinist Karen Zafer, to the "Background" or "Personal Life" section of this article. (Karen happens to be my mother, David is my uncle).

As documented in David Zafer's official Toronto Star obituary published by Glendale Funeral Home, he was predeceased by his sisters, Gail and Karen. Karen Zafer was a notable figure in the Canadian classical and recording landscape, spending 25 years as a second violinist with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra and contributing to major TV and film recording sessions in Toronto.

For formatting reference: Karen Zafer’s career history and passing were officially published and archived in the print edition of The Hamilton Spectator in July 1994. While it is not indexed on the free web, it can be verified by any editor with library access via the ProQuest Historical Newspaper database for The Hamilton Spectator (July 1994 archives).

Thank you for helping keep this biographical record complete.

Proposed Text:

"David Zafer came from a prominent musical family; his father, Alec Zafer, was a violinist and his first teacher, and his sister, Karen Zafer, was a Canadian violinist who spent 25 years with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra and performed on numerous television and film soundtrack sessions."
